Villanova, PA — The La Salle swimming and diving teams competed against Villanova at the Villanova Swim Complex Saturday morning for their third meet of the season. The men fell to the Wildcats, 168-132, while the women dropped their meet by a score of 181-114.
The Explorers opened the competition with a sweep of the 200-yard medley relays. The women's quartet of senior Gabriela Herbreder, senior Carlota Ungo, sophomore Camilla Frost, and senior Victoria Fenn took first with a time of 1:41.03 (also a new facility record), while the men's team of sophomore Noah Fredriksson, freshman Nicolas Medvedev, senior Felix Jedbratt, and junior Carter Perkins claimed victory in 1:29.76.
The men continued their momentum with several standout performances. Perkins earned wins in both the 50-yd free (20.44) and 100-yd free (44.89), while Jedbratt captured the 200-yd butterfly (1:47.88) and 100-yd butterfly (47.58). Jedbratt's time in the 100-yd fly was also a facility record. Freshman Blaise Hofmann led a 1–2–3 Explorer finish in the 100 backstroke with a winning time of 50.40, and won the 200-yd back with a time of 1:51.22.
On the women's side, Ungo picked up two victories, winning the 100-yd breaststroke (1:03.85) and 200-yd breaststroke (2:18.10). Herbreder added a runner-up finish in the 100-yd back (55.92) and third in the 200-yd breast (2:24.36), while Fenn placed second in the 50-yd free (23.75).
On the diving side of things, junior Tiffany Brawn led the way with first-place scores on both the 1-meter (255.38) and 3-meter (255.45) boards.
La Salle closed the meet with victories in both the men's and women's 400-yd freestyle relays. The women's team of Fenn, senior Rosalia Marin Martinez, senior Maren Schermerhorn, and sophomore Beren Celik finished in 3:28.35, while the men's squad of Perkins, Jedbratt, junior Austin Wakefield, and senior Tarik Gusic clocked 3:01.9 to cap off the meet. That time, along with Perkins' leg split, both set new facility records.
The Explorers return to action on Thursday, November 20 when the swimmers compete in the Queens Fall Frenzy, while the divers travel to West Virignia to take part in the WVU Diving Invite.
