Philadelphia, PA – The La Salle men's basketball team will open Big 5 play on Wednesday at Temple, with tip-off set for 7:00 pm. Tuesday's game also marks the first road game of the season for the Explorers.
Last Time Out
La Salle moved to 2-0 on the season with a 73-60 win over Monmouth on Saturday. The win marked La Salle's sixth straight victory on homecoming. The Explorers are now 2-0 for the third straight season and moved to 12-5 at John E. Glaser Arena, which opened last year.
Walker Earns Big 5 Honors
Freshman
Ashton Walker earned Big 5 Rookie of the Week honors. Walker shined against Coppin State, leading the way with 18 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Walker's 18 points are the most by a La Salle freshman in a season-opener since Donnie Carr scored 36 points against Mount St. Mary's in 1996. Against Monmouth, Walker added six points and a game-high nine assists to help lead the Explorers to a 2-0 start.
Marshall's Big Day
Graduate student
Jaeden Marshall led the Explorers with 26 points, including 12-12 accuracy from the free throw line, against Monmouth. Through one week, Marshall is second in the Atlantic 10 in scoring at 20.5 points. The graduate student is 16-16 from the charity stripe to start the season while ranking 31
st nationally in free throws.
Getting To The Line
The Explorers lead the Atlantic 10 with 24 free throws made per game, good for 27
th in the country. Under Darris Nichols, Radford was 20th in the country in free throw attempts in 2024-25.
Rebound That Jawn
The Explorers' motto is on full display through the first two games of the season. La Salle's 20 offensive rebounds against Monmouth were the most since January 9, 2013 against Charlotte.
The Explorers have 40+ rebounds in consecutive games since December 2019. La Salle has not had three straight games with 40 or more rebounds since 2009-10.
Defending Downtown
The Explorers rank 43
rd in the country in scoring defense, in part due to their ability to defend beyond the arc. Opponents are shooting just 19.1% from long range through two games, good for 15
