Cross Country To Run In NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals Friday

Bethlehem, PA - The La Salle cross country teams will race in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional race Friday, with the women's race set for noon, while the men's race will start at 1:00 pm.

Last Time Out

The Explorers last ran on Saturday, November 1 in the Atlantic 10 Championship meet, with both teams placing fifth in the conference. Junior Gwenno Goode led the way for the women's team, getting third place with a 6k time of 21:00.5, while senior Chanel Muir was the first finisher for the men, placing 10th overall in the 8k race with a time of 24:11.8. Both Goode and Muir received All-Conference honors for their finishes, along with senior Neve Moulai, who placed ninth with a time of 21:23.1.

La Salle In The NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Meet

Both squads have enjoyed team and individual success in this meet in the last few years, occasionally attaining All-Region honors and qualifications to the NCAA Championship meet. In last year's edition, both teams placed in the top-10 (men 8th, women 10th), and then-sophomore Goode was one of two Explorers to receive All-Region honors and qualify for the NCAA Championship meet with her seventh place finish time of 19:51.1, a new personal record.

Aiming For Nationals... Again

After her podium finish in the conference meet, Goode will look to secure her second-straight trip to the NCAA XC Championship meet, which will occur on Saturday, November 22. The individual qualifications are the first four finishers who do not belong to an automatic qualifying or an at-large team (top two teams automatically qualify along with one or two more at-large teams per region), who must also place in the top 25. Overall, the Explorers have had at least one representative in the Championship meet in four of the last five years.

Building Off Last Year

Juniors Matt Hill and  Bram van Druten were two of the four Explorers to place in the top 50 last year in the meet. The pair were the second and third-fastest La Salle runners on the men's team, with both runners finishing the 10k in less than 31 minutes.

Next Up

If anyone qualifies, the NCAA XC Championship meet would be the next and final meet for the squads this season. The races would start at 10:20 am on Saturday, November 22 in Columbia, MO.
