Newark, DE - The La Salle University women's basketball defeated Delaware for a second straight season on Wednesday morning with a wire-to-wire 65–48 win over the Blue Hens at the Bob Carpenter Center.
The Explorers set the tone early, jumping out to a double-digit lead in the first quarter and holding the opposition to 12 points. La Salle carried a 32–23 advantage into halftime behind strong defensive pressure and consistent paint scoring.
Aryss Macktoon led all scorers with 15 points to go along with four steals and three assists, while Ashleigh Connor added 14 points and seven rebounds. Joan Quinn chipped in 13 points, seven rebounds and three assists, and Kiara Williams finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
La Salle maintained control throughout the second half, extending its lead to as many as 17 in the third quarter. The Explorers finished with 46 points in the paint and forced 18 Delaware turnovers, converting them into 23 points.
Defensively, La Salle recorded 11 steals and six blocks, holding Delaware to just one made three-pointer on the afternoon.
La Salle improves to 8-3 on the season with the win and will return to action later this week at home as the Explorers will take on the Mississppi State Bulldogs for the first time in school history.
