PHILADELPHIA, PA — The La Salle men's basketball team program will travel to face a formidable opponent in the No. 2-ranked Michigan Wolverines to wrap up non-conference play at the Crisler Center on Sunday at 4 p.m.
Staying Disciplined
The Explorers commit just 15.3 fouls per game, which ranks third the Atlantic 10 and 35th in the nation.
Rebound That Jawn
La Salle ranks third in the Atlantic 10 and 67th in the nation with 13.2 offensive rebounds per game. La Salle has outrebounded their opponent in nine of their 12 games. The Explorers are 84th in the nation with a rebound margin of 5.4.
Marshall Leads The Way
Graduate student Jaeden Marshall leads the team with 12.6 points per game and 20 3-point field goals. Marshall has made at least two 3-point field goals in each of his last five games. Against High Point, Marshall delivered a standout performance, scoring 22 points on 6-of-13 shooting and a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line, marking his second 20-point game of the season and the second-highest scoring output of his collegiate career.
Marshall is shooting 90.7% from the free-throw line this season, the third-best percentage in the Atlantic 10 and ranks 39th in the nation.
Walker Continues To Impress
Freshman guard Ashton Walker leads La Salle with 10 starts, 27.5 minutes per game and 44 assists. Walker is second on the squad with 107 points.
Walker ranks fifth in the A-10 in assists and seventh in the A-10 with 3.7 assists per game. His assist/turnover ratio of 2.3 ranks third in the league.
Against High Point, Walker eclipsed 100 points on the season with a 14-point, six-rebound showing, setting new career highs in free throws made (8) and attempted (9).
Getting To The Line
Against High Point, the Explorers made 26 free throws on 32 attempts. The Explorers have shot 20 or more free throws in five different games this season.
Starting Shuffle
Through 12 games, La Salle has had 11 different starting lineups. 12 players have started at least one game, while freshman guard Ashton Walker leads the way with 10 starts on the season.
Coaching Connection
La Salle head coach Darris Nichols and Michigan head coach Dusty May were both assistant coaches at the University of Florida from 2015-18.
The Series
Michigan won the only all-time meeting on Dec. 29, 1975. The 17th-ranked Wolverines earned an 86-71 victory at the Las Vegas Holiday Classic.
Scouting The Wolverines
The Wolverines are one of seven remaining undefeated NCAA Division I teams.
La Salle is facing their second straight opponent with a top 10 scoring offense as the Wolverines are currently fourth in the country with 94.7 points per game.
Michigan ranks third in the nation in scoring margin (27.0), fifth in field goal percentage (53.0). Michigan has also scored at least 100 points in four of their last five games.
The Wolverines are also one of the top defensive teams in the country. Michigan is first in the nation with 33.1 defensive rebounds per game and second in the nation with a field goal percentage defense of 35.8%.
