PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle men's basketball team opens the month of March on Saturday as the Explorers take on the George Washington Revolutionaries. The Explorers will be looking to claim their fifth straight win against their rivals from the capital city.

LAST TIME OUT - LA SALLE 62, DUQUESNE 67
- Duquesne jumped out to an early lead, scoring the first 12 points of the game. La Salle battled back, pulling within one point with 2:30 left in the first half. Corey McKeithan sank a buzzer-beater to end the first half and send the teams into the locker room, 28-25 Dukes.
- Like the first half, Duquesne jumped out to an early lead to start the second, leading by 11 points after five minutes. For the second time in the game, the Explorers climbed back into the game, slicing the lead to three points with 3:30 left on the board.
- The game's defining possession came with one minute remaining. Down by three, the Explorers missed on three consecutive three-pointers to tie the game. The Dukes knocked down their free throws on the other end to secure the win.
NEWS AND NOTES
- Rebounding has been established as the Explorers' calling card this season. La Salle ranks fifth in the A-10 in rebounding (36.9), its most rebounds per game since 2010-11 (38.6). The Explorers rank in the top 100 nationally in the category. After the Immaculata game on Dec. 21, the Explorers have recorded two games with over 50 rebounds for the first time since 2011 (4).
- The Explorers are fifth in the conference in turnover margin (+1.4) and fourth in turnovers (10.6).
- Corey McKeithan leads La Salle in scoring with 14.8 points, good for 14th in the conference. The guard has scored in double-figures in eight of his last nine games and five consecutive outings.
- Daeshon Shepherd is third on the team in scoring, adding 10.8 points per game. He has scored in double-figures in 19 of the Explorers' 28 games, including nine of the last 13 outings.
- Deuce Jones has dazzled in his rookie campaign. He holds the La Salle program record with his six Atlantic-10 Rookie of the Week awards. The guard leads the A-10 in both points (12.2) and assists (2.7) per game by a freshman. He has scored at least 14 points in each of the last four contests. He tied his career-high with nine free throws made against Duquesne.
- Jahlil White has impressed as of late. The graduate transfer forward is averaging double-figures over his last three games and is pulling down 9.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists in his last two. White tied his career-high with four assists last time out. He is averaging 9.7 points and 6.0 rebounds.
- Etienne has started ten games including the last nine. The redshirt-junior is averaging 5.0 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.
SCOUTING GEORGE WASHINGTON
- George Washington is 18-11 overall and 7-9 in the Atlantic-10. The squad has split its last two games, including a blowout win over UMass and a 20 point defeat at Loyola Chicago.
- Rafael Castro is a player to watch, averaging 13.6 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. He leads the A-10 double-doubles with twelve this season.
- Chris Caputo leads George Washington in his third season. He is 49-44 during his time in D.C. Prior to his time at GW, he spent 11 years at Miami (FL).
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST GEORGE WASHINGTON
- La Salle and GW have shared a home in the A-10 since 1995 when Explorers joined the league. George Washington is a founding member of the conference.
- The two have met 49 times on the floor. The Revolutionaries have a slight edge in the all-time series, 24-25.
- La Salle swept the three-game series last season. The Explorers won a thriller earlier this season as the blue & gold hosted George Washington, 73-67. Jones and McKeithan scored 19 each as five La Sallian's scored in double-figures.
