Torreyson Hits Game-Winner In Final Minutes To Best Bryant

Philadelphia, PA — Juniors Darian DeLeo and Marisol Torreyson each found the back of the cage as La Salle field hockey earned a thrilling 2–1 victory over Bryant on Sunday afternoon at Ellen Vagelos Field.

DeLeo put the Explorers on the board early, converting in the 12th minute for her team-leading third goal of the season to give La Salle a 1–0 advantage. The score held through halftime thanks to a steady defensive effort, as the Explorers limited the Bulldogs to just two shots on goal.

Bryant pulled even in the fourth quarter when Alexa Sedicino scored in the 47th minute off an assist from Natalie Griffin. The Bulldogs continued to press, earning eight corners on the afternoon, but the Explorers' backline stood tall.

With time winding down, Torreyson delivered the game-winner in the 59th minute, cleaning up a rebound off a strong attempt by junior Matilda Diedrichsen. The heads-up finish secured La Salle's third win of the season and marked Torreyson's first goal of the year.

La Salle controlled the attack throughout, outshooting Bryant 15–5 and holding a 13–8 edge in penalty corners. Diedrichsen led all players with five shots, while DeLeo added four of her own. Collectively, the Explorers held Bryant to just five total attempts.

La Salle returns to action next weekend with two more non-conference matchups before resuming Atlantic 10 play, first at Drexel, followed by a home tilt with Rider.
