WILLIAMSBURG, VA - Competing in its first-ever race in program history, the La Salle Women's Triathlon team finished in second place overall at the Patriots Sprint Sunday at Jamestown Beach Event Park.
Compiling 65 total team points, the Explorers scored behind only Delaware State (88) in the four-team event, which also featured Gallaudet (41) and Hampton (18).
Individually, La Salle saw four athletes score within the top ten, with two finishing in the top four. Graduate student Fiona Davoudi scored a 20 to finish in second place, while senior
Sophie Brandwene came in fourth place with 18 total points.
Averi Duncan (eighth place, 14 points) and
Gabriela Herbreder (ninth place, 13 points) rounded out the Explorers' strong showing. Herbreder swam the fastest split of the water portion among female competitors with a 10:08 mark in the water.
La Salle returns to Pennsylvania to continue its inaugural season on September 20, when the Explorers head to Beaver Falls to compete in the Beaver County Collegiate Cup.
