Men's Basketball Continues A-10 Play at Richmond on Wednesday

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The La Salle men's basketball team (5-12, 1-3 A-10) continues A-10 play on the road at Richmond (12-5, 2-2 A-10) at the Robins Center in Richmond, VA, on Wednesday, Jan. 14, at 7 p.m.

What's Up, Dock?

Redshirt sophomore guard Rob Dockery is averaging a team-high 14.3 points during four A-10 games while shooting 53.1% from the field.

Marshall Leads The Way

Despite missing the last game against Saint Louis, graduate student guard Jaeden Marshall leads the team with 12.1 points per game and 27 3-point field goals. Marshall is shooting 52-of-58 (89.7%) from the free-throw line this season, the fourth-best percentage in the A-10 while ranking 38th in the nation.

A Storm Is Brewing

Since his return in the A-10 opener against George Mason on Dec. 31, Jerome Brewer Jr. has been averaging 14 points per game. Brewer Jr. is also shooting a team-best 57.9% from the field during A-10 play. Brewer Jr. logged a team-high 36 minutes against Saint Louis, scoring 15 points on 5-of-12 shooting. He ranks 11th in the A-10 with 32.8 minutes per game during conference play.

Post Presence

Against Saint Louis, graduate student forward Josiah Harris led all players with 19 points and eight rebounds. During A-10 play, Harris is averaging 12.8 points and a team-high 6.5 rebounds per game. Harris has hauled in a team-best 14 offensive rebounds during A-10 play, which is tied for fourth in the league.

Block Party

Junior forward Edwin Daniel is fifth in the A-10 and 91st in the nation with 24 blocks. Daniel has recorded at least one blocked shot in 12 straight games.

Daniel has blocked at least three shots in four different games this season.

Floor General

Sophomore guard Jaden Johnson ranks third in the conference with 20 assists during A-10 play. Johnson's five assists per game during league play are the fourth most in the A-10.

Getting To The Line

During A-10 play, La Salle leads the league with 114 free throw attempts, averaging 28.5 free throw attempts during the four-game stretch. The Explorers shot 39 free throws against Saint Louis, the most by any team in a single A-10 game this season, surpassing the mark of 33 La Salle set at Rhode Island.

Starting Shuffle

Through 17 games, the Blue and Gold have rolled out 15 different starting lineups. 13 players have started at least one game this season. Josiah Harris and Jaeden Marshall lead the way with 13 starts apiece.

Rebound That Jawn

La Salle ranks fourth in the A-10 and 84th in the nation with 12.5 offensive rebounds per game, including 12 games with 10 or more offensive rebounds. During A-10 play, the Explorers are averaging 10.5 offensive boards per game.

The Series

This is the 44th meeting between the teams. The Spiders lead the series 25-18. Richmond won the lone meeting last season, using a second-half surge to prevail 63-58 in Philadelphia on Feb. 19.

Scouting The Spiders

Richmond is 21st in the nation in 3-point percentage, shooting 38% from 3-point range. The Spiders average nearly 10 triples per game, the fifth most in the A-10. 

The Spiders rank fifth in the A-10 and 84th in the country in scoring offense, averaging 82.4 points per game. Four players average over 10 points per game, led by AJ Lopez with 12.3.

On the defensive glass, Richmond is tied for 69th in the NCAA with just under 27 defensive rebounds per game.

Next Up

The Explorers will return to John E. Glaser Arena on Saturday, Jan. 17, to face St. Bonaventure. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
