RICHMOND, VA – The La Salle men's basketball team (5-13, 1-4 A-10) fell 74-53 to Richmond (13-5, 3-2 A-10) in an Atlantic 10 matchup at the Robins Center on Wednesday night.
Graduate student guard Jaeden Marshall led the Explorers with 18 points, including 13 in the first half, surpassing 900 career collegiate points in the contest.
Graduate student Josiah Harris recorded eight points and a team-high eight rebounds, eclipsing the 800-point mark for his career.
La Salle trailed for much of the first half as Richmond's balanced attack found its rhythm. Marshall helped keep the Explorers in striking distance, converting on a four-point play in the final seconds before halftime to trim the deficit to 36-32 at the break.
The Spiders seized control early in the second half, building a double-digit advantage behind efficient shooting. Richmond extended the lead to 54-44 on a jumper by AJ Lopez and never looked back, outscoring La Salle 38-21 in the final 20 minutes. The Explorers struggled offensively down the stretch, connecting on 31% from the field and just one of 12 attempts from 3-point range in the second half.
