Pittsburgh, PA - Pittsburgh native Ashleigh Connor scored a career-high 26 points to lead the La Salle women's basketball team to a 77-61 victory over Duquesne on Saturday at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse. The win improves the Explorers to 12-10 overall and 5-6 in Atlantic 10 play. Connor, playing her first collegiate game in her hometown, was joined by three teammates who also reached double figures in scoring.
The Explorers led for much of the game but pulled away with a 32-point fourth quarter to secure a victory over the Dukes in a hostile environment. La Salle made 10-of-21 three-pointers, marking their best shooting percentage from beyond the arc this season.
Pittsburgh native Ashleigh Connor scored 26 points on 13 shots, adding 11 perfect free throws. Junior Aryss Macktoon contributed 23 points, including two three-pointers and two steals. Sophomore Joan Quinn hit three consecutive threes in the third quarter to extend La Salle's lead, finishing with 12 points and a team-leading 38.6 percent three-point shooting on the season. Ivona Miljanic also reached double figures with 12 points, going 3-of-5 from three.
La Salle looks to earn back-to-back wins for the first time since early January when they host Dayton on National Girls and Women in Sports Day next Wednesday at John E. Glaser Arena. Tip-off is at 6:30 PM and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.
