Richmond, VA – The La Salle field hockey team fell to Richmond, 8-1, Friday evening at Crenshaw Field.
Richmond scored three times in the opening 15 minutes and added two more goals in the second quarter to take a 5-0 lead into halftime. The Spiders added three goals in the fourth quarter to pull away.
Junior goalkeeper Zarah Synnestvedt made 12 saves in the second half, a career-high, while Abby Boggs recorded two saves in the opening 15 minutes.
Natalie Forman got La Salle on the board in the fourth quarter, scoring off an assist from Jeanne Legast at the 55:01 mark. The goal marked Forman's third of the season, while Legast picked up her first team-high fifth assist.
La Salle finished with 10 shots, including six on goal, and earned seven penalty corners. Richmond recorded 38 shots, with 22 on target.
The Explorers fall to 3-7 overall and 1-2 in Atlantic 10 play, and will return home to take on LIU in their annual Headstrong Attack Cancer game on Sunday at noon.
