Women's Soccer Earns 2-0 Road Win Against Dayton

Dayton, OH – The La Salle women's soccer team earned its signature road win of the season, defeating Dayton 2-0 to hand the Flyers their first defeat in Atlantic 10 play at Baujan Field on Friday night.

With the victory, La Salle improved to 5-4-3 overall and 2-1-1 in the A10, while Dayton fell to 4-6-2 overall and 1-1-2 in the league. It marked the Explorers' first road win at Dayton since 2014.

After both teams started slowly in the opening 15 minutes, junior midfielder Ella Cadigan put the Explorers on the board in the 20th minute with her second goal of the season. Cadigan placed the ball in the bottom right corner, where it deflected off the post and went in.

Cadigan's goal came from a give-and-go by freshman forward Shiloh Moore, who entered the game just 24 seconds earlier. Moore extended her points streak to five straight games with the assist.

The Explorers continued the momentum as graduate student forward Justyce Hollenbach netted her team-leading seventh goal of the season and the 21st of her career with a left-footed blast from just outside the 18-yard box.

Hollenbach's strike came off a midfield pass from senior defender Rylee Henson, who picked up her third assist of the 2026 campaign.

Junior goalkeeper Samantha Widnick made a diving save in the 29th minute, denying Ky Hau-Golden to keep the Explorers ahead by two. Widnick finished the contest with three saves and earned her fifth victory of the season!

The Flyers nearly got on the board minutes into the second half after a cross was sent towards the net. Henson, the Explorers' defensive captain, made a clutch clearance just in front of the goal line to keep Dayton off the scoreboard.

A similar threat loomed in the 68th minute, but junior defender Kennedy Erdman cleared the ball off the line to maintain La Salle's 2-0 lead.

Cadigan nearly gave the Explorers a 3-0 lead in the 74th minute as her left-footed shot attempt hit the crossbar and bounced down in front of the goal line. Kameron Rase nearly tapped in for a goal, but was denied by Kasey Cannistraro.

La Salle will return to Philadelphia to battle Richmond (6-0-5, 1-0-2 A10) on Thursday, October 8. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
