Newark, Del. — Senior Ismael Deme scored his third goal of the season in a 2-1 loss to Delaware on Saturday.
The first half featured no scoring, but 15 shots from the Explorers.
It was only three minutes into the second half before Deme scored, with senior Kyrese Lynch-Bailey notching his first assist of the season. The Fightin' Blue Hens answered back with two goals of their own, scored in the 53rd and 64th minutes.
The Blue and Gold outshot Delaware 25-9, with 12 shots on goal to Delaware's five. Junior Gabe Faust and senior Keiji Sugiura led the team with four shots apiece, with Sugiura having three on net. Deme had three shots with two on goal, with senior teammate Zeke Zambrano matching him in those categories.
Graduate student goalkeeper Sean Ellis made his first start for the Explorers, recording three saves.
The Explorers look to face Atlantic 10 and fellow Philadelphia opponent Saint Joseph's on the road on October 7th, with the match starting at 7 p.m. and being livestreamed on ESPN+.
