Joanie Quinn led the Explorers with 20 points in Wednesday's season opener at Rutgers, where La Salle fell 75-62 at Jersey Mike's Arena. The junior guard finished 5-of-12 from the field and added four rebounds and two assists.
Quinn went a perfect 10-for-10 at the free-throw line, accounting for more than half of La Salle's 17 makes at the stripe. She scored three baskets during a late first-half stretch that helped the Explorers pull within six of the Scarlet Knights.
Making her collegiate debut, freshman guard Tiana Thompson finished with eight points and a team-high eight rebounds. Thompson collected four offensive boards and added two steals, one assist, and one block in 27 minutes. She earned a starting assignment alongside Quinn, Lauren Patnode, Kiara Williams, and Vivien Nejašmic.

Nejašmic logged a team-high 36 minutes in her first regular-season appearance for the Explorers. The Xavier transfer contributed five points, six rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
Freshman Olivia Ostoni connected on both of her attempts from beyond the arc, finishing with six points in 10 minutes off the bench. Fellow freshman Sophi Hutchison made her only 3-point attempt and added a free throw for four points in five minutes.
Patnode led La Salle with three steals and added a block against the Scarlet Knights. The Explorers finished with 10 steals and forced 18 Rutgers turnovers.

Quinn averaged 11.2 points last season, while Williams started all 33 games and averaged 9.6 points and 4.9 rebounds. Head coach Mountain MacGillivray is in his ninth season following a 19-14 campaign and a WNIT appearance.
Saturday marks the first meeting between the programs since La Salle earned a 71-59 victory in Baltimore on Nov. 6, 2025.
Loyola Maryland enters the matchup 1-0 after defeating Notre Dame of Maryland, 76-30, in its season opener Monday at Reitz Arena. Five Greyhounds scored in double figures in the victory.
