Track & Field Competes In Fastrack National Invite

Staten Island, NY – La Salle men's and women's track & field competed Friday afternoon at the Fastrack National Invite held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.

La Salle's men's 60-meter dash featured multiple Explorers, led by freshmen Jordan Grady and Koan Sinor, who each clocked a 7.25 in the prelims. Grady also impressed in the 200-meter dash, placing fourth with a time of 21.93. In the 60-meter hurdles, freshman Caleb Johnson was eighth overall with a time of exactly nine seconds.

In the men's 800-meter run, sophomore Evan Dias was 22nd overall with a time of 1:57.62. Moving in the mile was sophomore Ricky Lee, who placed 11th overall, crossing the line in 4:16.07. To close out the day for the men, the 4x400-meter team of freshman Ryan Stankiewicz, Dias, Grady, and freshman Joshua Johnson placed fifth overall with a time of 3:21.46. On the infield, freshman Kenji Samuel won the long jump, reaching a distance of 6.67 meters.

The women's team opened competition in the short sprints with sophomore Jorden Gore, who advanced to the finals of the women's 60-meter dash. Gore clocked a 7.74 in the finals to finish fourth overall. In the 200 meters, freshman Carleen Lionel turned in a strong performance with a time of 25.74 to place sixth, while sophomore Havanna Gordon crossed the line in 25.89 for eighth. Junior Soleil Morrison continued her strong indoor season in the 400 meters, placing second overall with a time of 56.24, marking one of La Salle's top finishes of the meet.

In the middle-distance events, freshman Beca Bown competed in the 800 meters and posted a time of 2:31.19 to get ninth, while junior Georgia-Rose Dawson ran 4:58.06 in the mile to place 11th overall. The Explorers closed out the meet with a strong showing in the 4x400-meter relay, as the quartet of sophomore Adaugo Ilonze, Morrison, Lionel, and Gordon placed fourth with a time of 4:03.27.

In the field events, sophomore Tiera Ly recorded a third-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 4.90 meters, adding another highlight for La Salle.

The Explorers' next competition will be next weekend at the BU Valentine Invitational, hosted by Boston University. The meet will be streamed on FloSports.
