Philadelphia, PA – Titus Shay has been un-hit upon in 10 2/3 innings (seven appearances) out of the bullpen for La Salle this season.
So it was only fitting that he closed out the Explorers' combined no hitter on Sunday.
In four total innings pitched against Davidson during La Salle's series victory, Shay was perfect and struck out eight of the 12 batters he faced en route to an Atlantic 10 Conference Pitcher of the Week award Monday.
The redshirt-junior pitched the final three innings of Sunday's no hitter, earning the save while striking out six of the nine batters faced.
Shay owns a 0.84 ERA (one run in 10 2/3 innings pitched) and has allowed just three total baserunners while striking out 18 to just three walks in what has been a lockdown season out of the back end of the Explorers' bullpen. He has notched three saves including Sunday's.
His contributions to close out Saturday and Sunday's wins over Davidson helped lift La Salle up three places in the Atlantic 10 standings, as the Explorers now sit at 2-4 in the conference heading into a weekend series at George Washington, also 2-4.
Shay is the third Explorer to earn A-10 weekly honors this season.
Alec Welshans took home Player of the Week after hitting three home runs on opening week and
Carter Groen's three home run, 14 RBI week last week earned him the nod as well.
