Men's Basketball Faces Saint Joseph's In Regular Season Finale

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The La Salle men's basketball team (9-21, 5-12 A-10) travels to take on crosstown rival Saint Joseph's (20-10, 12-5 A-10) at Hagan Arena on Saturday at 1 p.m. for the final game of the regular season.

Explorers Defeat Fordham On Speedy Morris Day

The Explorers snapped a four-game losing streak with a dramatic 87-84 win over Fordham on William "Speedy" Morris Day at John E. Glaser Arena, highlighted by a special halftime celebration honoring the former legendary head coach of the Explorers.

La Salle opened the game with energy. The Explorers built an early 17-point lead and carried a 46-37 advantage into halftime. Fordham answered with a second-half surge and took a one-point lead with seven minutes left. The Rams' attempt to tie at the buzzer missed, allowing the Explorers to secure the victory.

What's Up, Dock?

During A-10 play, redshirt sophomore guard Rob Dockery is averaging a team-high 14.8 points, a team-high 7.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and a team-high 1.8 steals per game while shooting a team-best 49.1% from the field. 

Against Fordham, Dockery delivered his fifth 20+ point performance of the season, finishing with a game-high 25 points. It also marked his third game with 25 or more points. All five of Dockery's 20+ point performances this season have occurred during A-10 play.

Walker Continues To Impress

Freshman guard Ashton Walker continues his strong play during the final stretch of the regular season. Walker contributed 16 points, seven rebounds, and four assists in the victory against Fordham.

Walker leads all A-10 freshmen in minutes played (806), assists (91), assists per game (3.0), and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.9).

During his rookie season, Walker has been named Big 5 Rookie of the Week twice. He is averaging 12.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.0 assists over his last six games, while shooting 50% (12-of-24) from 3-point range. 

Harris Heating Up From Downtown

Graduate student guard Truth Harris tallied15 points against Fordham, including his third straight game with three made 3-pointers. Over his last three games, Harris is averaging 15 points while shooting nearly 43% from downtown.

Daniel Provides Spark Off The Bench

Against Fordham, junior forward Edwin Daniel provided a spark off the bench, finishing with seven points, seven rebounds, and three blocks in 19 minutes. Daniel has blocked at least three shots in six different games this season.

Injury Bug

La Salle has had 138 games missed by 10 players this season, which is believed to be the third most in the nation, trailing Boston U and Binghamton. 

Starting Shuffle

Through 30 games, the Blue and Gold have rolled out 22 different starting lineups. 14 different players have started in a game this season. Only two players (Dockery and Johnson) have started in all 17 conference games. 

Walker is the only other player to appear in all 17 league games this season.

Floor General

In league play, sophomore guard Jaden Johnson is second in the A-10 with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.9. He ranks sixth with 72 assists and 4.2 assists per game in A-10 play.

Against Fordham, Johnson finished with seven points, three rebounds, and six assists. He has tallied at least five assists in eight different games this season.

Last Meeting vs. Saint Joseph's

La Salle played from behind for much of the contest, trailing 36-29 at halftime as Saint Joseph's capitalized on hot perimeter shooting. The Hawks extended their lead to as many as 16 points midway through the second half before a late rally by the Explorers fell short.

Redshirt sophomore guard Rob Dockery delivered a historic performance for the Explorers, posting a career-high 26 points while adding 14 rebounds for his first career double-double. Dasear Haskins led Saint Joseph's with 20 points and 11 rebounds, including a game-high six 3-point field goals.

The Series

The series began on Dec. 17, 1909. La Salle won the first meeting 22-18. Saint Joseph's leads the series 82-64. Since 2024, the Hawks have won six of the last seven contests.

Scouting The Hawks

Saint Joseph's won its fifth straight contest and clinched the double bye for the Atlantic 10 tournament with a 70-67 road victory at Davidson on Wednesday.

Jaiden Glover-Toscano is sixth in the A-10 with 15.8 points per game. Glover-Toscano also ranks third in the league with 76 made 3-pointers this season.

Justice Ajogbor is one of the nation's premier shot blockers, ranking second in the A-10 and 15th nationally with 67 blocked shots.

Next Up

La Salle will head to Pittsburgh, Pa., for the 2026 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship. The Explorers will compete on the first day of the tournament on Wednesday, March 11, as the No. 11 or No. 12 seed.
