Henrico, VA – La Salle women's basketball saw its Atlantic 10 Championship run end on Friday night at the Henrico Sports & Events Center, dropping a 70-51 decision to #3 seed Richmond in the quarterfinals. The Explorers were outscored from start to finish, never holding a lead and finishing the season with an 18-13 record.
From the opening tip, Richmond asserted command with an 8-0 run that put La Salle on its heels early. The Explorers trailed 18-12 after the first quarter, but it was a dominant second period that proved decisive. Richmond outscored La Salle 23-9 in the frame to build a 41-21 halftime advantage.
Ashleigh Connor led the Explorers with 18 points on 6-for-14 shooting, adding five rebounds, five steals and four assists in 35 minutes. Junior Aryss Macktoon posted her 13th double-double of the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds, along with a block. Sophomore Joan Quinn added 12 points and three steals in 32 minutes.
As a team, La Salle shot just 30.2 percent from the field and 16.7 percent from three-point range, while turning the ball over 19 times. The Explorers finished with 40 rebounds, including 15 on the offensive glass, but allowed 40 points in the paint. Richmond, led by Maggie Doogan's 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists, shot 43.9 percent and controlled the tempo from wire to wire.
La Salle concludes its 2025-26 campaign with an 18-13 record, closing the season after their first appearance in the Atlantic 10 Championship quarterfinals since the 2020-21 season.
