Orlando, FL - On Wednesday, the La Salle University women's golf team capped its season at the 2026 Atlantic 10 Women's Golf Championship at Evermore Resort Golf Club, finishing sixth overall with a 54-hole total of 1073 (+209).
With the conference title on the line, the Explorers showed notable improvement round by round, cutting 39 strokes from their opening score to their final-day best. The team closed the tournament 158 shots behind champion Richmond, which finished at 915 (+51). Freshman Jewel Schaefer led the way for La Salle, placing 22nd individually with rounds of 97-86-79=262 (+46). Schaefer's final-round 79 not only marked her best of the tournament but was also her second-lowest posted this spring.
Sophomore Samantha Song and senior Sydnie Leavery finished in a tie for 25th at 268 (+52). Song rebounded from a tough opening round of 100 (+28) to fire an 83 (+11) in round two, while Leavery was the most consistent for La Salle through the first two days before closing with an 88 (+16). Senior Nina Okenkova placed 27th with rounds of 91-92-92=275 (+59), and senior Hannah Gammons rounded out the lineup in 30th at 298 (+82), contributing her best effort during the closing rounds.
La Salle's improvement from round to round was the largest in the championship field. The Explorers managed 11 birdies over the three days and gained experience in high-pressure play as they set a foundation for the next campaign.
