Ithaca, N.Y. — Despite a career performance from starting goalkeeper Abby Boggs, the La Salle field hockey team dropped a 5-0 decision to Cornell Friday evening at Marsha Dodson Field.
The Explorers faced early pressure from the Big Red, with goalkeeper Abby Boggs making eight saves in the opening quarter. Cornell found the back of the cage twice in the first period, taking a 2-0 lead after the opening 15 minutes. Boggs continued to anchor the La Salle defense throughout the afternoon, finishing with 21 saves on 26 shots on goal.
La Salle held the Big Red held scoreless through the middle two periods and generated two shots on goal from Olivia Nolan and Darian DeLeo, while also earning their first penalty corner of the afternoon in the third quarter. Cornell added three goals in the final period to pull away, including a penalty-stroke goal at the 50:52 mark.
La Salle will look to bounce back Sunday when they travels to Colgate for their second game of the weekend.
