Andrew Amaro completed his fourth season as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at La Salle University in 2020-21. A former assistant at Delaware and Division II power Tampa, Amaro joined head coach David Miller's inaugural staff in the summer of 2017.

The 2021 season was a record-setting one as Amaro helped the Explorers break a 36-year old school record for wins in a season as well as tying the program record for conference wins. La Salle piled up nine year-end awards from the Atlantic 10 Conference, including five all-conference selections. Amaro also developed Tatem Levins into an All-Region honoree in only his second full season as one of the top catchers in the East Region. Furthermore, under Amaro's coaching, Ryan Guckin tied the school record for triples in a season, while Jack Cucinotta became one of the top base-stealers in program history.

Since Amaro joined La Salle, the Explorers have seen significant improvements in hitting. Over his three full seasons, excluding the 2020 COVID-shortened campaign, the squad increased its batting average each season, while multiple players worked their way into the top 10 in school history in numerous offensive categories. In 2019, the Explorers set a school record with 44 home runs.

A two-time Major League Baseball Draft Pick, Amaro spent the 2017 season as an assistant coach at the University of Delaware. He helped the Delaware offense compile a .310 batting average, an on-base percentage of .408 and a .478 team slugging percentage.

The Blue Hens had 11 All-Colonial Athletic Association selections last year, compiling 34 victories and winning their first-ever CAA championship to earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

The nephew of former Major Leaguer, Philadelphia Phillies general manager and current Boston Red Sox coach Ruben Amaro, Jr., Amaro served as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II power University of Tampa for head coach Joe Urso in 2016. While in Tampa, Amaro worked with the outfielders, served as an advance scout, and directed base running and bunting. The Spartans went 41-10 during the 2016 season and advanced to the NCAA South Regional.

A native of Bensalem, Pa., and a standout at William Penn Charter School, Amaro began his collegiate career at the University of Maryland and played three seasons with the Terrapins from 2011-14 before moving on to Tampa. During the 2015 season, he batted .320 with three home runs, 25 RBIs, and a team-high 19 stolen bases, earning All-Sunshine State Conference honors and leading the team to a 43-13 record and a NCAA Division II national title.

Originally drafted by the Phillies in the 47th round of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft, he was drafted by the Phillies once again in 2015, this time in the 35th round. He played one season in the minors, competing for the Lakewood (N.J.) Blue Claws and the Williamsport (Pa.) Crosscutters.

Amaro earned his bachelor's degree in communications from the University of Tampa in December 2015.
