Kate Popovec enters her second season as the Director of Women's Basketball Operations in 2014-15.

As the program's director of operations, Popovec oversees the administrative duties including alumni relations, travel arrangements for players, coaches and staff, overseeing the team managers and game tape distribution, coordinates the team's annual banquet, and assists with scouting, among much more.

In her first season with the Explorers, the team posted the most Atlantic 10 wins (9) since the 1996-97 season and earned a No. 7 seed in the Atlantic 10 Championship. The Explorers topped three of the league's top six seeds over the course of the regular season, including wins over all four A-10 teams that earned WNIT bids. La Salle also topped the Atlantic 10 in scoring defense, field goal percent defense and three-point field goal percent defense in league play. La Salle placed two players on Atlantic 10 postseason teams, including All-Conference Second Team pick Alicia Cropper and All-Rookie Team selection Micahya Owens. Cropper also earned Philadelphia Big 5 First Team honors.

This year marks her second season on the sidelines after a playing career that included stops at Pittsburgh and Northwestern. She played under current head coach Jeff Williams at Pitt from 2008-10 before moving to Chicago. While at Northwestern, she earned numerous honors including the 2013 Big Ten Sportsmanship Award, Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award and was named to the Academic All-Big Ten list.

Popovec was also selected to participate in the WBCA's "So You Want To Be A Coach" class at the 2013 Final Four in New Orleans.

"I am extremely excited to start my career as an Explorer," Popovec said. "I have had the privilege of playing for Coach Williams at the University of Pittsburgh, and I am greatly appreciative to have the opportunity to work as a member of his staff.  La Salle has wonderful tradition both athletically and academically, and I look forward to being able to contribute to its continued excellence."

Popovec graduated with a Master's degree in Sports Administration from Northwestern in 2013.
