Coach Williams on Payne: "Jada Payne has an opportunity to be an impact player as a freshman. She has the ability to shoot the three as well as get to the basket. She is also an athletic kid who has the ability to be a good defensive player. We are very excited about the addition of Jada Payne. She's a natural scorer."

2011-12 (8.8 ppg/3.5 rpg/1.3 apg): Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team... Two-time Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week (11/14, 1/23)... Appeared in all 31 games, starting the first 26 of her career... Was team-high scorer in five contests, led team in rebounding twice... Scored team-high 15 points in collegiate debut against Lehigh (11/11)... Followed up with 16-point performance at Albany (11/13)... Earned first A-10 Rookie honor for those two performances... Poured in team-high 17 points against Florida (11/25) in the Courtyard LaGuardia Turkey Classic at Long Island... Had four-game double-digit scoring streak from 1/14 to 1/28, averaging 15.8 ppg over that stretch... Netted game-high 18 points at Charlotte (1/18) along with team-best eight rebounds... At Hickory High School: Led Hickory to a 28-3 record and the state finals in 2010-11... Led Hickory to the Northwestern 3A-4A and West 3A Regional titles... 2011 McDonald's All-America nominee... Named the West 3A Regional Most Valuable Player... Also named the West MVP at the state finals... Hickory Daily Record Sports' All-Greater Hickory Girls' Player of the Year... Associated Press All-North Carolina Team... First Hickory female player to be invited to play in the North Carolina East-West All-Star game in at least eight years... Led her squad to the conference regular season title as a sophomore and both the regular season and tournament title as a junior, as well as the sectional finals in both seasons.... As a junior, averaged 20 points and seven rebounds per game, along with five steals and four assists... Named all-conference, First Team All-District and Second Team All-Region in 2009-10.
