PITTSBURGH -
Samantha Tulskie notched a double-double, tallying 10 kills and 11 digs, as La Salle fell to Duquesne, 3-0 (15-25, 22-25, 11-25).
The Explorers started off the match slowly, allowing Duquesne to jump out to a 7 point lead in the first set that they couldn’t overcome.
The Blue and Gold wouldn’t let the same slow start plague them in the second set. This time it was the Explorers who put the set’s first six points on the board, on two kills by Tulskie, one winner from Lauren Noga, an ace from Kelly Scanlon and Duquesne errors.
La Salle held the Dukes off until a La Salle error tied the set at 20 all. The Explorers regained a 22-20 lead, but Duquesne rallied off four straight points to close out the set, 25-22.
In the third set, Duquesne again used an early 7-0 lead to put the match away, winning 25-11.
Breanna Mazalewski totaled 15 digs, while Scanlon had 7 kills, as well as 12 digs. Kourtney Clark posted 23 assists.
For the Dukes, Sara Scheirman posted a double-double of her own with 11 kills and 14 digs.
La Salle’s last game of the season will be on Sunday, when the Explorers host Rhode Island at Tom Gola Arena. The squad will honor its two seniors, Carly Conlon and Danielle DiMarco, in a pre-game ceremony beginning at 12:45 p.m.
