Bryant Scores Three Goals In Second Half To Beat Field Hockey, 4-1

Box Score

SMITHFIELD, R.I.
- Bryant scored three goals in the second half to break a 1-1 tie and defeat visiting La Salle, 4-1, on Saturday. Junior Becca Chylack scored the Explorers' only goal and redshirt freshman Lisa Shaffer made 11 saves for the Blue and Gold.

Bryant (5-5) got on board quickly on Rosie Bird's goal in the third minute. Chylack answered back in the 18th minute when she blasted a shot high and left into the cage off a penalty corner, with junior Neelam Kumar and redshirt sophomore Haley Jennings earning the assists.

The goal was Chylack's third of the season and 20th of her career, placing her 11th on La Salle's all-time list.

The teams went into halftime tied at 1-1 but the host Bulldogs turned it on in the second stanza. Mallory Hancock scored her second goal of the season in the 41st minute, which proved to be the game-winner, off a pass from Olivia Jankins.

Courtney Landi added an insurance tally in the 51st minute and Bird scored her team and Northeast Conference best 11th goal of the season with just over a minute to play to complete the scoring.

The Bulldogs held a 22-10 advantage in shots and La Salle held the lead in penalty corners, 11-10. Megan Hancock did not have to make a save for Bryant in goal.

La Salle (3-7) remains on the road to visit Sacred Heart tomorrow at 1 PM.
