PHILADELPHIA – The Explorers (5-17, 1-4) will look for their second conference win of the season as they continue Atlantic 10 play with matches against Duquesne on Friday and Saint Louis on Sunday.
The volleyball team has had time to rest and get back to basics this week after an off weekend. The Explorers' last competition came during a 3-1 loss to Temple on October 6.
The Dukes (13-7, 3-3), second in the league in hitting percentage (.217), boast three strong attackers in Allison Foschia, Liz Homan and Sara Scheirman. This is due in part to setter Taylor Jones, who sits third in the league in assists with 10.34 per set.
Defensively, Patti Abshire is having a solid freshman campaign, with her 4.80 digs/set good for second in the conference.
The squad recently snapped a three-match skid with a 3-2 road victory over Fordham on Saturday.
The Billikens (8-8, 4-2) currently sit second in the A-10 under first-year coach Kent Miller.
Outside hitter/middle blocker Andrea Beaty was named the A-10's Co-Offensive Player of the Week after averaging 4.67 kills/set as Saint Louis defeated Fordham and Rhode Island last week.
