PHILADELHPIA – For the second straight week, sophomore
Renee Washington has been recognized by the Atlantic 10 for her clutch performance on the soccer pitch and has been named player of the week, the conference announced today. She shared the award with Saint Joseph's player Mo Hawkins.
Washington's game-winning goal in overtime gave La Salle a 3-2 win over UMass on Sunday afternoon and extended the team's unbeaten streak to 14 games.
The goal was her 9th of the season and fifth game-winner. She also assisted on the first goal of the game late in the first half.
The Explorers (13-0-1, 5-0) will look to continue their magical season this weekend on the road with a Friday night match up against Charlotte followed by a Sunday afternoon tilt at Saint Louis.
