PHILADELPHIA – The volleyball team fell to Charlotte in three sets (25-22, 25-12, 25-11) on Friday evening in a match held on the campus of Philadelphia University.

Jacquelyn Mitrovich and junior
Samantha Tulskie each added five kills. Senior
Kourtney Clark chipped in 16 assists. Tulskie led the team in digs with eight.
The Explorers nearly took the first set after working to a 19-16 lead. However, the 49ers called timeout and then were able to tie the contest at 19-all after two kills and a La Salle error.
La Salle then went up 21-20 after a kill by Mitrovich.
Charlotte answered with a kill of its own but then gave the lead back to La Salle after a service error.
But from there, the Explorers couldn't stop the 49ers. They closed out the set with four straight points to win 25-22.
Charlotte came out strong in the second set, taking an early 9-3 lead. The Explorers couldn't recover, falling 25-12.
It was the same story in the third set, as La Salle fell, 25-11.
For Charlotte, Bianca Rouse posted a double-double of 11 kills and 11 digs.
Tomorrow La Salle will be back in action at 7:00 p.m. when it welcomes George Washington to Tom Gola Arena. The match will be a “dig pink” game to help raise money and awareness for breast cancer research.
