No. 19 Women’s Soccer Wins 14th Straight Match, Defeats Saint Louis 4-0

Box Score

SAINT LOUIS, Mo. – The La Salle women's soccer team won its 14th straight match on Sunday afternoon, knocking off Saint Louis 4-0 at Hermann Stadium.

Renee Washington drew first blood in the game off a throw-in from Ashley Chilcoat in the 6th minute to put La Salle on top 1-0.

Five minutes later, Kierstyn Mabey scored her first goal of the season on her 22nd birthday off an assist from Courtney Niemiec.

The Explorers (15-0-1, 7-0-0) expanded the lead to 3-0 in the 62nd minute when Kelsey Haycook headed one past the Saint Louis keeper off a beautiful service from Washington.

The goal was Haycook's 15th of the season as she continues to add on to her single-season freshman record.

The fourth goal of the game came in the 74th minute and was an own goal that deflected off a Billikens' defender and into the back of the net.

Goalkeeper Melissa Sanger made a season high seven saves in net to preserve her 13th shutout of the year in just 15 results.

The victory also clinches another record, marking the first time in Atlantic 10 history that a team has beaten both Charlotte and Saint Louis on the road in the same weekend.

La Salle will now await word on whether or not they will have to make up their game against Rhode Island that was rained out last Friday.  If the Explorers and Rams are forced to make up that game, it will take place on Wednesday afternoon in Kingston.
