PHILADELPHIA – The volleyball team will play its third of three matches against Temple at McGonigle Hall on Friday evening and then travel to Charlotte for a 1:00 p.m. match on Sunday.
The Explorers currently boast two of the top defenders in program history in juniors
Breanna Mazalewski and
Samantha Tulskie. Both have recently moved into the top ten all-time in career digs at La Salle.
Mazalewski has 967 career digs, good for seventh all-time, while Tulskie has collected 959, the eighth-most all-time.
The pair also sit in the top 10 in digs per set in the Atlantic 10 conference this season.
Also in the Explorers' record books is senior
Kourtney Clark. The Montgomery, N.Y. native moved into fourth all-time in career assists last weekend against George Washington last weekend and currently boasts 2298.
La Salle (5-21, 1-8) looks to steal a match against the Owls (6-16, 2-7) on their home court after dropping the two previous meetings between the teams.
The Owls are on a four-match losing streak and have won just one set in that time span. The team has been out hit .222 to .155 this season.
Freshman Tiffany Connastser has been having a solid first season as the team's setter, averaging 9.77 assists per game, good for fifth in the A-10. Defensively, the Owls are currently second in the conference in digs with 15.42 per set.
The Explorers will face Charlotte (9-12, 3-6) in North Carolina trying to erase the memories of last Friday's 3-0 loss. After giving up a lead in the first set to fall 25-22, the Explorers dropped the final two sets.
Bianca Rouse leads the team's attack with 3.30 kills/set. She is coming off a double-double in Charlotte's last match.
The 49ers have won three straight and will travel to play Dayton on Friday evening before playing the Explorers.
