Men's Swimming & Diving Defeats Rider, Falls To Delaware

PHILADELPHIA – The men' s swimming & diving team defeated Rider, 153-145, but fell to Delaware, 162.50-137.50 on Saturday afternoon at Kirk Pool.

The Explorers began the day with a victory in the 200-medley relay (1:35.25) swam by juniors Dan Fitzgerald and Blase Szyszko and seniors Edward Carnes and Austin Thomas.

Thomas picked up three individual first-place finishes, winning the 50-free (21.16), 100-free (47.20), 100-fly (50.70).

Szyszko swept the breaststoke events, winning the 100-breast in 58.42 and 200-breast in 2:08.40.

In 200-IM, freshman Kip Gravel took second, clocking in at 1:58.79.

Four Explorers finished third in their respective events. Junior Zach Anderson finished third in the 1000-free (10:08.52), sophomore Cameron Cabrera in the 200-free (1:45.18), Carnes in the 100-back (53.81).  Junior Brian Batson had two third-place finishes, in 50-free (21.92), as well as the 100-free (48.13).

In the diving competition, senior Jordan Baker won the 3-meter dive (313.05) and took second in 1-meter.

The Explorers will next gear up for the three-day Bucknell Invite, beginning this Friday in Lewisburg, Pa.
