Three Boats Win Races to Lead Men's Rowing at Frostbite Regatta

PENNSAUKEN, N.J.  - Three boats captured their races on Saturday to lead the La Salle men's rowing team at the annual Frostbite Regatta on the Cooper River in Pennsauken, N.J.

The varsity eight along with both the novice four 'A' and 'B' boats each won their respective races. The V8 topped Lehigh by over 10 seconds, finishing the race in 6:20.07 to the Mountain Hawks' 6:30.56. Binghamton was third in 6:39.53, followed by Rutgers-Camden (7:07.02) and Lafayette (7:12.09).

The novice four 'A' boat dominated, topping second place Stony Brook by over 20 seconds. The Explorers clocked a 6:26.68 to Stony Brook's 6:47.75. New York Maritime 'B' was third in 6:49.74, followed by Philadelphia University (7:10.93) and Binghamton (8:16.17).

The novice four 'B' topped second place Maryland by over 11 seconds as the Explorers finished in 8:14.03. The Terps came in 8:25.86, followed by Lafayette 'B' (8:45.44) and West Virginia 'B' (8:47.18).

The varsity four placed second in its race with a time of 7:16.18. Marietta won in 7:08.70. The Explorers were over four seconds ahead of Drexel 'A', which clocked a 7:20.52. Philadelphia University (7:26.47) and Ithaca (7:31.81) rounded out the race.

The JV eight and novice eight boats each finished third in their races. The JV eight clocked a 6:38.17 for third out of five. Drexel 'A' captured the race in 6:19.02. The novice eight clocked a 7:10.40, also for third out of five. Temple won with a time of 6:38.35.

The Frostbite Regatta marked the final race of the fall season for the Explorers. They return to action in the spring.
