BUFFALO, N.Y. – The men's swimming & diving team dropped its Saturday afternoon meet against St. Bonaventure, 209-125, at the Flickinger Aquatic Center.
Junior
Blase Szyszko dominated the breaststroke events, winning the 100-breast in 58.51 and 200-breast in 2:09.35.
Senior
Austin Thomas won the 50-free in 21.33. He also swam a 47.01 in the 100-free, good for second.
Freshman
Stefan Sharpe came in second in the 1650-free (16:43.60) and followed up that performance with third in the 500-free (4:54.65).
In the 200-back, sophomore
Dave Derr clocked in at 54.86, good for third.
Junior
Brian Batson placed second in the 50-free (22.02). Sophomore
Sean McCall came in third in 200-free (1:48.11).
The Explorers went 2-3 in the 100-fly as senior Edward Carnes finished second in 53.57 and sophomore Greg Fisher came in third at 53.96.
La Salle's 200-free relay, swam by
Cameron Cabrera, Thomas, Batson and
Greg Fischer, finished first in 1:27.02. The 200-medley relay also won (1:35.42) behind swims by Dan Fitzgerald, Szyszko, Carnes and Thomas.
The 400-medley (3:30.07) and 400-free (3:14.16) relays placed second.
Jordan Baker added a pair of third-place finishes in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives.
La Salle returns to the pool with a tri-meet against Delaware and Rider on Saturday. Held at Kirk Pool, the meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
