PHILADELPHIA – Men's swimmer
Austin Thomas has been named November's Athlete of the Month, as voted on by the members of the La Salle office of Athletic Communications.
The senior broke two La Salle records, in the 50-free and 100-fly, and was undefeated in the 50-free during November.
During competition at the Bucknell Invite from November 18-20, Thomas lowered his own 50-free school record to 20.32. He followed that up by breaking teammate Edward Carnes' 100-fly record, swimming a 48.61 in the preliminaries of the event.
Winning in the finals of those events, Thomas also picked up a victory in the 100-free to sweep his individual events at the Bucknell Invite. He also anchored the 200-medley relay to victory and helped 200-free rely to second-place with a 19.94 split.
The Cherry Hill, N.J. native also swept the 50- and 100-free and 100-fly earlier in the month against Rider/Delaware.
Against St. Bonaventure, Thomas posted a victory in the 50-free and finished second in the 100-free.
Thomas was named the Atlantic 10's Performer of the Week, as well as La Salle's Student-Athlete of the Week, on November 21.
