Johnson Leads Explorers On Day One At A-10s

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FL - Freshman Michael Johnson carded a five-over 77 to lead the La Salle golf team at the Atlantic 10 Championship which commenced on Friday at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-In-The-Hills, FL. Johnson is tied for 20th place but is just two strokes out of the top 10.

The rookie had 13 pars and five bogeys in his conference championship debut and parred all four par three's.

Junior Ed Carnes shot an 81 (+9) and is tied for 33rd. He had two birdies and played the back nine at two-over.

Three Explorers - junior Tyler Batory and freshmen Tommy Horgan and Chris Costantino - are tied for 49th with a 87 (+15). Batory and Costantino each carded a pair of birdies, while Horgan had one.

La Salle stands in 11th place with a team score of 332 (+44) but is just seven strokes out of eighth. Xavier and Charlotte are tied for the lead after 18 holes with a score of 290 (+2).

Xavier's Herbert Day and Charlotte's Andy Sajevic each shot two-under 70s to lead the field.
