Berlin, MD - The La Salle University men's golf team closed out the Battle at Rum Pointe with a tie for 11th place out of 16 teams at Rum Pointe Seaside Golf Links, finishing with a two-round total of 613 (+37).
Payton Hawke led La Salle individually, placing tied for 37th after rounds of 71 and 80 for a 151 (+7) total. Hawke tallied nine birdies across two rounds, including a career-best seven on Friday and was the team's top par-4 scorer with an average of 4.25.
Kyle Virsik and Benjamin Battye each finished tied for 44th with matching 153 (+9) totals. Virsik recorded a team-high 23 total pars with steady play across both rounds. Battye delivered one of the best par-3 performances in the field, averaging 3.13 on par 3s, and recorded seven birdies, the second most for the Explorers.
Gavin Dosch was the lone Explorer to improve his score from round one to round two, carding 78-76 for a 154 (+10) and a tie for 51st. Dosch excelled on the par-5 holes, averaging 4.50 (-4), which ranked fifth among all players in the field. Armand Loscalzo finished tied for 59th with a 155 (+11), posting solid par-5 scoring as well. Jackson Debusschere rounded out the lineup in a tie for 90th after posting 82 in both rounds, contributing five birdies of his own.
Tournament winner Iona posted a 578 (+2), followed by Fairfield and Dartmouth. The Explorers' 312 in round two was their second-highest single-round score this year, and the 613 overall is their highest 36-hole mark through eight events in 2025-26. Statistically, the Explorers struggled on par-3 holes, ranking 15th out of 16 teams with a 3.58 average (+23), while their par-5 scoring stood out at fifth-best in the field (4.70, -12).
La Salle will look to regroup at the Wildcat Spring Invitational, hosted by Villanova University at Galloway National Golf Club in Galloway, NJ, April 6-7.
