Urbana, MD - The La Salle men's golf team opened its spring campaign with a strong showing at the Carpetbagger Classic at Worthington Manor Golf Course, finishing tied for second place. The Explorers carded rounds of 296 (+8) and 288 (E) to end the tournament at eight-over par, four shots behind team champion Mount St. Mary's.
Leading the way for La Salle, Gavin Dosch followed his opening-round 73 with an even-par performance in round two to finish tied for 15th overall. Armand Loscalzo turned in the team's best second round, firing a one-under score to move into a tie for 17th, alongside Kyle Virsik, who shot even par on day two.
Jackson Debusschere added a solid effort, posting a one-over round to place 21st, while Benjamin Battye recorded a three-over score on day two to finish 26th overall after opening with a 73. Payton Hawke rounded out the lineup, finishing 41st after a three-over performance in the final round.
As a team, the Explorers built off their eight-over showing in round one with an even-par second round to secure a tie for second in their first event of the spring season.
The team will next be in action the upcoming weekend at the Battle at Rum Pointe at Rum Pointe Seaside Links on March 27 and 28.
