The Men's and Women's Freshman Eights posted times good enough for second place, both boats beat Drexel at today's Bergen Cup on the Schuylkill River.
The Men's Freshman Eight began race day today and crossed the finish line with a time of 5:58.5. First place went to Drexel (5:49.5).
The Women's Freshman Eight battled within three seconds of first place with a time of 6:27.5. Saint Joseph's stopped the clock at 6:24.5, good enough for first. Third place went to Drexel 6:32.
Other races today were the Men's Pair, Men's and Women's Varsity Four and Men's and Women's Varsity Eight.
The Pair took third with a time of 6:49.7, ahead of Philadelphia University (7:13.1). First and second place went to Drexel (6:36.7) and Temple (6:46.6), respectively.
The Men's Four stopped the clock at 6:35.4, which put the boat in fifth. First place went to Temple (6:06.6)
The Women's Four took fourth place at 7:11.7. Temple came in first (6:55.4).
In the race for the Bergen Cup, the Men's Varsity Eight battled to a fourth place finish with a time of 5:44. The trophy went to first place Drexel (5:30.6).
The Kelly Cup went to first place Saint Joseph's in the Women's Varsity Eight. The Explorers posted a time of 6:36.3.
Catch the Explorers in its final race of the season when the team competes at the Dad Vail Regatta on the Schuylkill River on May 13-14.
