Explorers Host GW and Undefeated Charlotte On Senior Day

PHILADELPHIA – La Salle Women's Soccer looks to remain undefeated in the Atlantic 10 Conference this weekend as they host George Washington on Friday night and Charlotte on Sunday afternoon.

Scouting The Explorers

La Salle enters the weekend ranked No. 2 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Mid-Atlantic Poll and sits atop the Atlantic 10 Conference with 30 points thanks to a (10-3-0/4-0-0) record this season.

Sophomore Maryam Huseini leads the Explorers in assists with six, doubling her season total last weekend by assisting three our of four Explorers goals including both game winners.  Sophomore Anna Dolhansky has propelled the Explorers through the first half of conference play, netting the game-winning goal in three of the Explorers' first four A-10 matches.

Junior Renee Washington and Sophomore Kelsey Haycook join Dolhansky as Explorers who have recorded points in the double digits this season.

Scouting the Colonials

The Colonials are off to an 0-3 start in conference play but have faced three difficult opponents that were each projected to finish in the top third of the conference: Charlotte, VCU and Richmond.

Most recently, GW is coming off a 4-2 loss to Charlotte in which the Buff and Blue out-scored and out-shot the 49ers in the second half, but could not overcome a three-goal halftime deficit. On average, the colonials have lost games this season by a mere 1.08 differential.

Scouting the 49ers

The 49ers (9-3-1/3-0-0) sit just below the Explorers in both the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Poll (seventh) and Atlantic 10 standings (second) as the only other conference foe still undefeated in conference play.

Sophomore Amanda Jones and senior Carrie Dail pace the squad with six and five goals, respectively. The tandem has combined for four of the team's game-winning goals, including a high of three from Dail.

In the last meeting of the two squads (October 21, 2011) Haycook netted two goals in a 2-1 Explorers victory.
