KINGSTON, R.I. - For the second straight match, La Salle volleyball went the distance but ended up on the losing end Friday evening at Rhode Island. The Explorers fell 3-2 (25-22, 18-25, 25-13, 24-26, 22-20) in a rigorous affair of nearly two and a half hours.
The deciding fifth set featured 14 ties as neither team budged until the Rams (7-14, 3-5 A-10) finally pulled away in the back and forth contest.
Kelly Scanlon posted a team-high 21 kills (.206) and added 18 digs while
Samantha Tulskie tallied 17 kills (.250) and a match-high 30 digs.
Rachel Melich registered a season high six service aces and added 22 assists to her stat line.
As a team, La Salle hit .151 (53 kills-25 errors-186 attempts) while Rhode Island connected at a .212 (71 kills-26 errors-212 attempts) clip.
La Salle (4-20, 0-8 A-10) plays again Saturday at 7 p.m. at Fordham as it continue its A-10 weekend road swing.
