Box Score
PHILADELPHIA – VCU scored a pair of shorthanded goals in the final 13 minutes of play to record a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over La Salle on Sunday. Junior
Mariel Papa scored La Salle's only goal off an assist from sophomore
Colleen Kempf.

Sophomore
Lisa Shaffer made six saves for the Explorers. She moves into ninth on La Salle's all-time saves list with 271 in just two seasons.
VCU (11-5, 2-3 A-10) controlled play in the early going, out-shooting the Explorers 6-1 in the first half. But Shaffer and the La Salle defense was air tight and the teams went into halftime knotted at 0-0.
The Blue and Gold came out strong in the second half, taking advantage of several Ram green cards to pepper the cage. Papa got on the board in the 50th minute when she took a pass from Kempf and beat the keeper.
The lead was short-lived however as seven minutes later VCU's Emilie Soares fired a nice backhanded shot from the top of the circle to tie the score.
The tied game lasted even less. With 9:59 left on the clock, Kendall Combs deflected a shot by Chelsea Hill for the game-winner. Both VCU goals were scored while a Ram was in the penalty box with a yellow card.
VCU held a slim 14-12 advantage in shots and a 6-4 lead in corners.
