PHILADELPHIA - La Salle held their own against VCU (23-2, 9-2 A-10) on Saturday afternoon, but ultimately fell 3-0 (25-20, 25-11, 25-21) to the visiting Rams.
The Explorers started the match hot, forcing a VCU timeout with a 13-8 lead. The Rams closed out the set to a 17-7 tune ane ran away with set two from the get go. La Sale hung tough in the third frame, exchanging points with VCU for much of the period, but did not have enough gas left in the tank for a late comeback.
On senior day,
Samantha Tulskie recorded her 15th double-double of the year, with 15 kills (.120) and 13 digs.
Breanna Mazalewski posted a match-high 16 digs as La Salle's defensive specialist.
As a team, the Explorers hit .097 (33 kills-21 errors-124 attempts) while VCU notched a .300 (46 kills-9 errors-110 attempts) mark.
La Salle (4-23, 0-11 A-10) travels to Butler (11/2, 7 p.m.) and St. Louis (11/3, 6:30 p.m.) next weekend in its final road trip of the sesaon.
