Volleyball Ends Season With 3-0 Loss At Temple

Box Score

PHILADELPHIA - In its final match of the year, La Salle volleyball faltered at Temple, losing 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-14) on Friday evening.

The Explorers held their own in the first set and trailed 16-15 before the Owls (18-10, 8-6 A-10) rattled off nine of the next 10 points to take an early advantage. La Salle kept within striking distance in the second frame and took six of seven points to tie the period 22-22. However, the home team took three of the next four exchanges en route to the set victory. The Owls buried the Blue and Gold early in the third frame, never allowing the visitor to gain any momentum.

In their final collegiate matches, all five La Salle seniors made a significant impact. Kelly Scanlon was the lone Explorer to register double-digit kills with 10 (.105). Samantha Tulskie notched nine kills (.059) and 18 digs while Breanna Mazalewski registered a match-high 19 digs. Emily Merrick recorded 2 kills (.143) and a block assist while Lauren Noga added a kill, two digs, and a block assist of her own.

The Explorers (4-26, 0-14 A-10) enter an offseason of conditioning and preparation for next fall, which promises to be an exciting campaign with several key regulars returning.
