Men's Swimming & Diving Completes Tune-Up Meet Against Penn, UMBC

PHILADELPHIA -
The men's swimming & diving squad swam in its final meet before the Atlantic 10 Championships later this month, falling to Penn and UMBC Saturday afternoon on the Penn campus.

Junior Blase Szyszko had a third-place finish in the 200-breast (2:09.41) and touched sixth in the 100-breast 59.54.

Senior Austin Thomas touched third in the 100-fly (51.74).

Junior Dan Fitzgerald came in fourth in the 100-back (54.09), while sophomore Dave Derr placed sixth (54.49).  In the 200-back, senior Edward Carnes took sixth (2:01.38).

Freshman Kip Gravel had a fourth-place finish in the 200 IM (2:04.53), with senior Joe Jung taking fifth in that same event (2:05.57).  Jung also finished sixth in the 200-fly (1:59.81).

Sophomore Cameron Cabrera clocked a 1:44.92 in the 200-free, good for fifth.  Junior Brian Batson was right behind him in 1:45.96.
 
La Salle nabbed a third-place finish in the 400-free relay.

In the diving competition, senior Jordan Baker took fifth in the 3-meter (266.60), as well as the 1-meter (254.75).

La Salle will now begin the tapering process in preparation for the Atlantic 10 Championships, which will be held in Buffalo, N.Y. from February 22-25.
