Explorers In Fifth Place After 36 Holes At GW; Fewell Tied For 11th

BETHANY BEACH, Del.
- The La Salle golf team shot a 36-hole score of 604 to stand in fifth place out of 12 teams at the George Washington Intercollegiate at Bear Trap Dunes, which began on Friday. Sophomore Tyler Fewell carded a five-over score of 74-75=149 and is tied for 11th, seven shots off the pace.

The Explorers shot a 297 (+11) in the morning round, with senior Ed Carnes recording a team-best 73 (+1). Fewell and senior Randy Kurzinsky shot two-over 74s, while sophomore Mike Johnson recorded a 76 (+4). Freshman Greg Goodreds shot an 84 (+12) to round out the La Salle line-up. 

In the afternoon round, Fewell's 75 led the Blue and Gold. Kurzinsky had a 76, followed by Carnes' 77 and Johnson's 79. Goodreds was the only Explorer to improve in the afternoon round, shooting an 82. 

Fewell is tied for 11th and is seven shots behind Penn's Max Marsico's two-under 142. Kurzinsky and Carnes are tied for 17th at 150 (+6), while Johnson is tied for 39th (155, +11). Goodreds is in 59th at 166 (+22). 

Penn leads the event by 10 strokes with a 579 (+3). Boston College is in second (589), followed by Delaware (591), George Washington (602) and La Salle (604).

Play resumes on Saturday morning with 18 holes at 8:30 AM.
