EASTON, Pa. - The La Salle golf team shot a team score of 311 (+23) to stand in eighth place after one round at the Lafayette Invitational, which began on Sunday at Northampton Country Club. Sophomore
Tyler Fewell shot a four-over 76 and is tied fo ninth in the 83-player field.
The Explorers are 20 shots behind the leader after 18 holes, Hofstra, but stand just five shots out of second. The jumbled up team standings show only ten strokes separating second through 11th place.
Fewell shot a 37-39=76 to pace the Blue and Gold, followed by sophomore
Mike Johnson who recorded a 39-38=77 (+5) to tie for 14th. Senior
Ed Carnes had a 38-40=78 (+6) and is tied for 23rd.
Senior
Randy Kurzinsky (44-36=80, +8, t-47) and sophomore
Chris Costantino (44-41=85, +13, t-74) rounded out the La Salle lineup. Freshman
Greg Goodreds competed as an individual and shot a 39-41=80 (+8). He is tied for 47th.
Hofstra's Brandon Shin leads the field after one round with a two-under par 70. Three players are three shots back.
Fairleigh Dickinson is in second with a 306, followed by host Lafayette (307), Iona (308), Lehigh (309), Saint Francis (Pa.) (309), Siena (310) and La Salle (311).
