Explorer Track Competes at ECAC/IC4A's and Virginia Challenge

PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle track and field squad spent time at both the ECAC & IC4A Championships at Princeton and at the Virginia Challenge at the University of Virginia this weekend.

Nick Crits led all performers this weekend with a sixth place finish in the 1500 meter run at the IC4A Championship. Crits finished sixth in the preliminary with a time of 3:48.29 to automatically qualify for the 1500 final. He repeated with a sixth place showing in the final, clocking a 3:49.82.

The 5000 meter run featured a pair of personal records, led by Alfredo Santana's 10th place finish with his career-best time of 14:24.30. Dave Hausherr was a few spots behind with a PR time of 14:25.69 to finish 13th in the 26-runner field.

Brett Shepherd, Steve Kandetzke, Kevin Grosso and Dave Laratta combined to run a 7:44.58 in the 4x800 preliminary, finishing 17th.

Oren Buie also competed at IC4A's, running an 11.07 in the 100 meter preliminary to finish 42nd.

The women's 4x800 was also in action at ECAC's, as Wendy Hutchinson, Elizabeth Walker, Karim Brooks and Tori Pisco combined to run a 9:10.50 to finish 15th in the preliminary.

Three runners were also in action at the Virginia Challenge including a pair of PRs. Wayne Bartholomew PR'ed in the 800, running a 1:50.79 to finish ninth out of 20 runners. Paul Reilly finished 11th in the 800 with a time of 1:51.34.

Vince Perozze PR'ed in the 1500 meters, clocking a 3:51.65 to finish 32nd.
