PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle field hockey team will open up the home portion of its schedule on Saturday when Saint Francis (Pa.) arrives at DeVincent Field for a 1 PM contest. The Explorers are coming off a three-game trip to California to start the season.

Scouting the Explorers
Olivia Shoemaker returns from the West Coast as the leading scorer with a pair of goals, both scored in the 4-3 win over Pacific.
Maddie Doub,
Mariel Papa, and
Juliana Carfagno each have a goal for the Blue and Gold.
Papa, Barretta,
Janel Paukovits and
Becca Chylack all have recorded assists.
Olivia Leaman leads the Atlantic 10 with three defensive saves. Barretta also picked one up in California.
Scouting the Red Flash
The Red Flash is off to a 2-0 start after wins last weekend over Lock Haven and Longwood. After trailing Lock Haven 1-0, Autumn Pellman scored three straight goals to lift Saint Francis to a 3-1 win. Against Longwood, Carissa Maeka had a pair of goals in the 3-1 win.
Maeka, the current NEC Player of the Week, was an all-NEC selection last season after scoring six goals for Saint Francis. The Red Flash went 5-15 and 3-4 in the NEC during the 2011 campaign.
Series History
The two teams have met every year since 2007 with La Salle winning all five meetings. Head Coach
Michelle Marks earned her first victory as a head coach at St. Francis (Pa.) in 2009.
In last year's 2-1 La Salle win,
Becca Chylack and Shoemaker scored goals with Shoemaker's tally with 10 minutes left proving to be the game winner.
Lisa Shaffer made 11 saves for the Explorers in the victory.

La Salle will travel to city rival Villanova on Wednesday at 7 PM.
