Scouting the Explorers
The Explorers return to Hank DeVincent Field for just the second time this season looking to get back on the winning track after a pair of tough losses.
DeVincent Field has been good to La Salle of late, as the team is riding a five-game winning streak on its home field and has won six of its last seven.
Mariel Papa leads the team with seven points (3g, 1a) while
Becca Chylack and
Neelam Kumar each have five points. Kumar has moved into seventh place on La Salle's all-time assist list with 16.
Olivia Leaman is still second in the nation in defensive saves with three, while
Lisa Shaffer is 17th nationally in saves per game (7.75).
Scouting the Broncs
Rider has won four straight games following a 3-0 loss to Drexel to start the year. The Broncs have outscored opponents 12-1 since that game in wins over Villanova, Colgate, Hofstra, and Penn.
Sandra Penas leads the team with three goals and an assist for seven points. She is the reigning NEC Offensive Player of the Year and was also a second team all-region pick in 2011.
The Rider defense has been solid, posting a team GAA of 0.80, which ranks seventh nationally. The Broncs are also third in the nation in penalty corners per game (11.8).
Rider won the NEC last year after going 19-2 and 7-0 in the league.
